Whose fault is it?

According to President Obama and his blind-faith worshipers its all the Republican’s fault that he can’t get anything done and that the stimulus is a failure.

John Hinderaker at Powerline notes a section of Obama’s recent radio address where Obama is now trying to say that Healthcare is important for jobs. Actually it will kill more jobs if it passes but that’s not the point I am raising here. Instead look at Obama’s comment, “I will not accept partisan efforts to block reform at any cost.” There is no way the republicans CAN BLOCK ANYTHING, they are totally out of power, they cannot filibuster they cannot vote anything down. Obama is already trying to lay the groundwork for blaming any failure on a party who cannot stop him. Obama’s problem is other Democrats who have actually listened to the people and the people have told them, “no freakin’ way.” But Obama obviously can’t go around blaming his own party, that’s political suicide so he opts for outright lies, which is his standard play.

Over at Pirate’s Cove, William Teach has noted another liberal trying to blame Republicans for Obama’s failure. I stole his post title, I admit it. Teach correctly notes the difference between who owns what fault when Bush was in office and now and also correctly notes the odd rush to pass the stimulus and the lack of any result.

Finally, Saturday Night Live mocked Obama’s lack of any results in their opening skit last night but at least they didn’t blame Republicans. Its a sad day when SNL is more intellectually honest then our President or his followers.

Warning: Language

Posted in Culture, Media, Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 29, 2009 by thedoyle

I got the title from an old Far Side cartoon, but looking around I wasn’t able to find a copy and also probably not a good idea if I infringe on the copyright. But today’s topic is about language.

Until we evolve into a higher order and are able to communicate telepathically we are stuck with verbal and written communication. I am constantly amazed at the sloppy language used everyday by people. Even going through law school I was amazed at the sloppy language used by my fellow students. I don’t mean the occasional typo, spoonerism, sarcastic or hyperbolic remark or slip of the tongue, Freudian or otherwise. I mean sloppy word choice, such as “no one believes that”, a phrase like that is easy to disprove and the speaker or writer should know better. It is often easy to spot when a speaker (I will use speaker for both verbal and written from here on…too lazy to write speaker or writer every time) just threw up a word rather than carefully thought it out vs. one who may have misspoke, usually in the latter case the speaker will correct themselves. In normal conversations between friends it may not be as important to the participants in the discussion, friends will often overlook such sloppiness because they will understand the meaning the speaker was actually trying to convey.

However, worse than sloppiness is when language is purposefully distorted and used to attack. Recently the Washington Post and the Associated Press attacked James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, the journalists who exposed ACORN as the corrupt organization it really is. The Post falsely attributed a quote to O’Keefe making it appear that O’Keefe had a racial motivation. Scott Johnson of Powerline noticed it right away and demanded a response. Johnson followed up by pointing out that another blogger, John Rosenberg, had noticed a pattern by the Post author and also that Joel Mowbray had looked into the “drive-by mugging” of O’Keefe.

The Post did print a “correction” that’s actually a non-correction and Mr. Johnson notices the odd wording of the “correction”. Johnson links to a great article which blasts the Post for continuing to slime while pretending to correct.

I bring all of this up because the Post’s original article and its subsequent “correction” are an indicator of how the Left uses language to its advantage to slant any discussion their way and slime anyone who disagrees with them. The Left of course has no problem with this at all, which is why they go into fits about Sarah Palin using the phrase “death panels” on Facebook to describe panels that would have the authority to choose who may get life saving treatment but they don’t make a peep over a National Paper falsely putting racist words in the mouths of an opponent.

Lloyd Marcus at American Thinker has had enough. His article is entitled “Stop Allowing the Left to Set the Rules” and it s a great piece about how this sort of thing happens all the time and how especially now with all of the racism charges being thrown around by the left it must be combated. He also notes the cries for “civility” by the very same people who ignored or encouraged such incivility towards George W. Bush and Sarah Palin.

I have pointed out the hypocrisy of Liberals about this subject before. I could make every post every day on this blog about another example of it. Mr. Marcus is correct we need to be aware of the language used by the Left. It can’t be put down to pure sloppy thinking (although that is another problem the Left does have), most of the time it is well thought out to do the maximum amount of damage. By pointing out the Left’s tactics and hypocrisy and making sure our own language is direct we can defeat these nitwits.

That being said, I have no plans to stop being a sarcastic S.O.B.

Liberals take off the warrior masks and reveal hypocrite faces beneath

Posted in Politics, War with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 28, 2009 by thedoyle

Rich Lowry of NRO points out New York Times hypocrite Frank Rich’s changing stance on Afghanistan here but Rich is not alone in his hypocrisy. All of the Democrats and their Liberal supporters share that particular vice. During the Presidential Campaign the Dems and especially “The One” made quite the stink about how George W. Bush had taken his eye off the “important fight” and wasted time in Iraq. I knew at the time they were full of it, that they were willing to say anything to bash Bush but make it seem as though they themselves were not simply just a bunch of arugula-eating-surrender-monkeys.

Now, predictably, they are ready to give up the fight…again. Sure they blame it on changing circumstances such as the election, but that’s simply a pretext thinner than the Gulf of Tonkin (also used by a Dem) to do what they wanted to do earlier; give up, apologize and bend over. That is what they seem best at.

Obama’s UN Speech filled with Lies and Fantasy.

Posted in Culture, Environment, Media, Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 24, 2009 by thedoyle

I watched the entire speech yesterday because I am a masochist. NRO posted a transcript. Obama began lying in the second sentence and it didn’t stop till the end.

“I come before you humbled by the responsibility that the American people have placed upon me, mindful of the enormous challenges of our moment in history, and determined to act boldly and collectively on behalf of justice and prosperity at home and abroad.”
HA. “Humbled” my ass, he’s one of the most arrogant, self-absorbed, self-obsessed people I have seen in the political scene in this country EVER. “Determined to act boldly” except in the case of Iran’s election where he sat back and said let’s wait and see, it’s none of our business they need to work this out on their own so that he wouldn’t wreck a chance to grovel to Achmadinnerjacket at a later date.
The only true statement in that sentence was his claim he would act “collectively.” All socialists believe in the collective, the superiority of the group over the individual. Obama’s collectivism was on full display there for sure.

“I have been in office for just nine months — though some days it seems a lot longer.”

It certainly does seem longer to me, it seems like this nitwit has been trying to screw up our country for years with his socialist view.

“I am well aware of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world.”
WTF?? Who cares about the expectations of the rest of the world, he doesn’t work for them he works for us. This is a prime example of what is wrong with Obama and the left in general, their constant obsession with how the world sees us. They are like high school girls worried about whether the cool kids will like them. The rest of the world will never like us, they never have. The left loved to talk about how it was all George W. Bush’s fault that the world didn’t like us, which was pure bullshit. The world never liked us, no one likes the big dog, they all want to be the big dog or tear him down.

“These expectations are not about me.”
For someone who says its “not about me” the speech is filled with “me” and “I” hell, he managed to refer to himself 4 times in those last three sentences. Like I said self-absorbed and self-obsessed.

“Rather, they are rooted, I believe, in a discontent with a status quo that has allowed us to be increasingly defined by our differences, and outpaced by our problems. But they are also rooted in hope — the hope that real change is possible, and the hope that America will be a leader in bringing about such change.”
Wow he actually managed to work in his campaign slogan…twice, into a speech before the world. Bravo, he has brought self-absorption and cheap politicking to a whole new level.

“I took office at a time when many around the world had come to view America with skepticism and distrust.”
Again, see above the world had done that since George Washington not just since George W. Bush.

“Part of this was due to misperceptions and misinformation about my country.”
And who helped spread that misinformation and who helped create those “misperceptions?” Oh that’s right it was the left, people like John Kerry going overseas and badmouthing our country and badmouthing its soldiers. People like Dick Durbin who called the guards at Gitmo, Nazis. People like Obama himself who went on a world wide apology tour after taking office solidifying every bad idea ever held. I could give tons of examples of just the left’s politicians let alone leftist nitwits like Michael Moore, George Clooney, the Dixie Chicks etc.

“Part of this was due to opposition to specific policies, and a belief that on certain critical issues, America has acted unilaterally, without regard for the interests of others.”
Of course Obama thinks this horse-crap is true In his mind, and the mind of leftists, only if the interests of others is more important than our own are our actions proper. If only our own interests are at stake we must then get approval from others to act. A suicidal thought pattern that John Kerry had suggested during his failed bid for President. An intelligent person knows that if our interests are at stake and the world is content to do nothing then they can sit there while we take action. Let them grumble all they want, they weren’t willing to do anything to help us they obviously don’t have the balls to do anything to oppose us.

“And this has fed an almost reflexive anti-Americanism, which too often has served as an excuse for collective inaction.”
More fantasy belief that the anti-Americanism is new and more collectivism on display.

“Now, like all of you, my responsibility is to act in the interest of my nation and my people, and I will never apologize for defending those interests.”
He won’t apologize for defending those interests but he went around apologizing for just about everything else, what a hypocrite, what a tool. Also, he refers to himself 4 times in one sentence, a new record. But it’s not about him.

“But it is my deeply held belief that in the year 2009 — more than at any point in human history — the interests of nations and peoples are shared.”
No, the interests of nations and people are NOT shared. I do not share the interests of Islamic jihadists who wish to impose Sharia Law and Islam on everyone on the globe, they do not share my interests in living my life as I see fit. I do not share the interests of socialists who wish to denigrate the individual, crushing him in the name of the collective. Socialists do not share my interest in the freedom to make a living and keep the fruits of my labors. I can’t quite tell if he was lying or fantasizing, it may be a combination of both. “A Bridge Too Far.” Caine and Hackman in the same movie. This is my thesis man! This is my closing argument! I CAN STOP WATCHING TV!

The rest of the speech is just as bad as the beginning was and I don’t have time to go thru it line by line mocking it all, so here is a round up of others who ripped it to shreds.

Paul Mirengoff correctly calls it sophomoric. I will admit my humor is too, but then I am not the President.

Mr. Mirengoff also notes the groveling Obama did

Scott Johnson of Powerline also comments on Obama’s ignorance and arrogance.

Anne Bayefsky gave National Review online her take on President Apology.

John Bolton, disliked by the UN and the left because he actually tried to work, takes apart our “post-American President”

Rich Lowry of NRO points out the naive view of Obama.

Brett D. Schaefer of NRO also points out the naive view.

Michael Ledeen of NRO argues against the naive view.

NRO posted the transcript of Charles Krauthammer’s take on the speech. “Between embarrassing and dangerous”

I will be posting tomorrow on the “Global Warming” portion of his speech tomorrow.

Its War

Posted in Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 12, 2009 by thedoyle

Yesterday was a day of remembrance and I tried to stay out of any political fights, I failed at the end of the day but ah well. I am only human. I did manage to hold off my anger at seeing some of the news articles that were on the web yesterday and I also held off commenting on Obama’s 9/11 decision to make yesterday a National Day of Service and his Proclamation that went along with it.

Obama says in his Proclamation:
“We must apprehend all those who perpetrated these heinous crimes, seek justice for those who were killed, and defend against all threats to our national security.”

As Andrew McCarthy at National Review Online correctly points out:
“No, Mr. President, these are acts of war. What’s “heinous” is not to see that. And these acts of war, we have learned, happen when we treat such atrocities as if they were mere crimes. It emboldens our enemies to know that we won’t defend ourselves vigorously. How shameful to pick today of all days to display for all to see — including our enemies — that we’ve forgotten that lesson. I shudder to think what it will take to relearn it.”

The Left of this Country has never quite gotten it. Each time we were attacked during the Clinton Administration, it was treated as a crime and each time it had no effect on our enemies planning future attacks. After 9/11, the Bush Administration realized it was a war and treated it that way, and the Left still didn’t get it. They still wanted to call it a crime, they still wanted to treat it as a crime and the few times they used the word “war” was to call Bush and Cheney “war criminals.” (See they still managed to tie-in crime)

If the Left wants to prove they are serious about National Security for a change, why not take the first step and show the rest of us you understand the difference between crime and war.

Rumors of my demise…

For anyone who has been here in the past few months and still comes back to read this, thank you.  So…we could have a new Supreme Court Justice. What’s that you say? What do I think about her? Funny you should ask. So many things to say and most of them have been said. I don’t know her. Until she was announced I had heard her name and seen very little and what I have seen since has not impressed me. But I don’t know her. I will she how she does when shes asked questions in the Senate. It is very likely she will be confirmed unless there is some smoking gun out there. But what she has said is important even beyond her as a Justice but also about the role of a Judge, the role of race and the role of Identity Politics.

Here’s the best of what I read:

My weekend.

Posted in Culture, Economy, Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 1, 2009 by thedoyle

This weekend I went to the Federalist Society’s Student Symposium at Yale Law School. The topic was Separation of Powers in American Constitutionalism and it was an amazing conference that included distinguished Law Professors, Federal Judges and even former Ambassador to the United Nations, John R. Bolton.

The Symposium ended with a banquet which included an address by the Honorable Laurence H. Silberman, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Judge Silberman spoke on the topic of Honor and how the idea of honor has seemed to have left our country and in particular how there seems to very little honor in those who serve the public.

He pointed to the many “tell-all” books that come out as soon as a public servant leaves his office or position. These books are often served up as red meat to the opposition of whomever is in power and he spoke of the danger this practice brings. His speech will eventually be posted and I will link it when it is.

I also notice a lack of honor in most people these days, not just in the public realm but everywhere. Yet I agree with Judge Silberman (I think he would say I was wise to do so) that it is worse in the Public Realm.

To me, Obama and Joe Biden are examples of public servants who have no honor. Obama blames everything on the previous administration, even tho there is plenty of blame to go around including his own actions (or in-actions, Obama did enjoy simply voting “present”). When we were attacked on 9/11 the hi-jackers had been in our country for years under Clinton. The press loved to discuss the memo about Bin Laden “determined to attack in the U.S.” as an example of Bush ignoring threats. Clinton not only saw such a memo, he even created one himself and yet did nothing to stop those who were training in our country under his watch.

Bush NEVER blamed Clinton.

EVER.

Pundits blamed Clinton, I blame Clinton but Bush never once said “I inherited these terrorists” the way that Obama claims to have inherited the economy. Obama has no Honor.

Biden is worse. Biden has no Honor and he has no class. Biden’s attacks on those he disagrees with are legendary. Just look at his behavior at any of the last few Supreme Court Justices. He has no issue with outright lies if it serves his purpose and he will never shrink from slimming an opponent with personal attacks at the drop of a hat.

These two men are now in charge of our country, put there by making people believe in “hope”.

I want to vote for a candidate who displays honor.

Obama wants to run the free world? He can’t even pick a good cabinet.

Soo hear the one about the Obama pick with some tax issues? Which one you ask? Well let’s start with the one who just withdrew.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/daschle_taxes

Tom Daschle withdrew his nomination on Tuesday to be President Barack Obama‘s Health and Human Services secretary, faced with problems over back taxes and potential conflicts of interest.”

Those last 5 words are very telling. Both men are just out for themselves so of course there will be a conflict of interest, but at the same time thieves work together all the time so what caused this particular split?

I am gonna skip the rest of the tax…”forgetters”? Isn’t that the official story for all of them? I want to talk about Eric Holder and more to the point how the media deals with anything from “The One”.

Whenever “The One” does anything the Media acts like a new mother whose baby has just filled his diaper. The mother coos and says, “Did you make a present for daddy?” I feel like the father who has the sense to say “That’s not a present…its shit.”

On that note lets talk about Holder and the Media’s reaction.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090203/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/holder_confirmation

“The lanky, 58-year-old former prosecutor, federal judge and No. 2 official during the Clinton administration promised the start of a new era at the Justice Department, which was wracked by Bush administration scandals over politically motivated hirings and firings. Holder has pledged to restore its reputation.”

Let me pause while I laugh now and that gives you time to check out the excellent work Paul Mirengoff did way back in November.

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2008/11/022113.php

Now that you’ve read what Paul said about Holder’s work helping Bill Clinton pardon the FALN terrorists in order to help out Hillary’s election chances, doesn’t this sentence from the AP article make you pause; “Holder also will play a major role in the future of terrorism detainees.”? He can’t even seem to hold on to the ones we had before, and they want to give him more? But the AP article never mentions that, instead we get more shit like this:

“Attorney General Eric Holder, on his first day on the job, signaled a clean break with past policies of the Bush administration and promised to hold Wall Street accountable if any major financial institutions engaged in fraud that contributed to the global financial crisis.”

Again, its shit folks. But the media is telling you its a gift. Look he’s “signaling” for a “clean break.” Its BS and it reminds me of someone else who seemed pleased with a clean break from the past:

Governor Tarkin: The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away.

Also let’s look at the second part of that sentence “promised to hold Wall Street accountable if any major financial institutions engaged in fraud that contributed to the global financial crisis.”

Two things leap out at me, first how the whole sentence with that ending makes it seem as if Bush let Wall Street do what ever it wanted.  Which isn’t true. Enron was happily cheating people during the Clinton years, it finally got busted and punished under Bush. I dont claim Bush busted them, they screwed up on their own but he didn’t just let it slide. Also for years Bush was trying to add more regulation to Wall Street and that legiislation was stopped by the Dems. So overall the first idea the AP tries to sell turns out to be shit, but lets look just at cleaning up Wall street and llok at holders past and OBAMA”S FUTURE.

Holder worked to get Marc Rich pardoned under Clinton. So here’s a guy who has done worse things then the guys at Enron and Holder helps get him out of Jail.

What does that mean for Obama’s future? I think it means that “The One” has picked himself a good crony who will do whatever Obama wants and who has shown Obama that he has no qualms about throwing ethics out the window for the right guy i.e. a Dem President.

What has the Media done? They took someone who’s past is very visiably tarnished by obvious partisan and political HACK moves, threw in some wealth envy and class warfare, some Bush Hatred and tried to wrap it up with a bow and tell you its a present, a gift to you.

Its Shit.

The next fours of Media Coverage of “The One” in a single glance.

The AP, which gave up objectivity a looong time ago has put out this humdinger of a “news” story. The headline alone shows you it is anything but news, it is a cheerleading rah rah story, “Obama breaks from Bush, avoids divisive stands.” The  AP points to things like the closing of Gitmo, which The One has decided to close. Wait….Gitmo is a highly divisive issue, so that must mean Obama didn’t take a stand right? WRONG, he ordered it closed…so how is that breaking from Bush? Well it means he took the opposite view, but taking an opposite view is not the same as avoiding a divisive stand.

Well lets look at the next issue…abortion. Obama reversed a policy of Bush that tied Federal Taxpayer money to foreign countries for relief to an order to not offer or discuss abortion. Again, taking the opposite view is NOT the same as avoiding the divisive issue. I am tempted to call the AP and pull an Inigo Montoya on them, “You keep using dat word…I dinna think it means what you think it means.” I wont even get into the rest of the rah rah stuff that is the “article.” It was bad enough I had to read it the first time, cutting and pasting the rest in could give my computer a headache. Read it for yourselves to see if I am right or wrong. Hint: I’m right.
