Obama is not interested in photo ops, he’s only interested in photo ops. UPDATED

Posted in Media, Politics with tags , , , , , , on October 6, 2009 by thedoyle

When I saw the other day that Obama refused to meet with the Dalai Lama my first thought was Gunga Galunga my second thought is that Obama really is a weasel. Obama has to meet with the ChiComs next month and he obviously wants to suck up to them in way no President has ever sucked up before. What was most amusing to me though, was insistence from Obama’s officials that it had nothing to do with the up coming meeting and had to do with the fact “this president is not interested in symbolism or photo ops but in deliverables

What a crock. The NY Post shows exactly how interested Obama is in symbolism and photo ops, because yesterday it went wrong.

There is little I love more than watching Obama and his administration caught in lie after lie and embarrassment after embarrassment. The only thing I love more than that is watching his lemmings try to cover for him.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin has also noticed the Photo Op here and here. The second story is an in-depth look at not just the propaganda but also what is lurking behind it. Check it out.

Whose fault is it?

According to President Obama and his blind-faith worshipers its all the Republican’s fault that he can’t get anything done and that the stimulus is a failure.

John Hinderaker at Powerline notes a section of Obama’s recent radio address where Obama is now trying to say that Healthcare is important for jobs. Actually it will kill more jobs if it passes but that’s not the point I am raising here. Instead look at Obama’s comment, “I will not accept partisan efforts to block reform at any cost.” There is no way the republicans CAN BLOCK ANYTHING, they are totally out of power, they cannot filibuster they cannot vote anything down. Obama is already trying to lay the groundwork for blaming any failure on a party who cannot stop him. Obama’s problem is other Democrats who have actually listened to the people and the people have told them, “no freakin’ way.” But Obama obviously can’t go around blaming his own party, that’s political suicide so he opts for outright lies, which is his standard play.

Over at Pirate’s Cove, William Teach has noted another liberal trying to blame Republicans for Obama’s failure. I stole his post title, I admit it. Teach correctly notes the difference between who owns what fault when Bush was in office and now and also correctly notes the odd rush to pass the stimulus and the lack of any result.

Finally, Saturday Night Live mocked Obama’s lack of any results in their opening skit last night but at least they didn’t blame Republicans. Its a sad day when SNL is more intellectually honest then our President or his followers.

So much for Civility

Posted in Culture, Media, Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 2, 2009 by thedoyle

Nothing like a little Liberal hypocrisy to start the day. Nancy Pelosi took to the microphones and complained about the rhetoric being used, I already pointed out her hypocrisy on this before but this new chapter is too good to pass up.

The other day I posted about the congressman, Alan Grayson from FL, who went went on a vitriolic attack and the complete lack of outrage from Liberals. Just as reminder the RNC put out a video showing everyone the truth behind the Left’s calls for civility.

Now Pelosi went to bat for her Democratic colleague, at a press conference not only did she dismiss the need for an apology, she also outright lied AND almost slipped and made the point that Joe Wilson should not have had to apologize.

It is important to note that Wilson DID apologize to the President directly, so Pelosi’s claim that everyone should have to apologize is a lie. It is also important to note that Republicans have given numerous plans to reform healthcare, so her claim they have no plan is lie number 2, although she got that lie from Obama himself. And then there is her slip of “there’s no more reason for Mr.Grayson to apologize than for…uh”…. uh what? Then for Mr. Wilson to apologize? Well if that’s the case will they take back their “distraction” of a rebuke? Somehow I doubt it.

Pelosi is a true waste of flesh much like the Left in general. I’ve said before I think the calls for civility are jokes but no matter what, Liberals are the biggest jokes of all.

Warning: Language

Posted in Culture, Media, Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 29, 2009 by thedoyle

I got the title from an old Far Side cartoon, but looking around I wasn’t able to find a copy and also probably not a good idea if I infringe on the copyright. But today’s topic is about language.

Until we evolve into a higher order and are able to communicate telepathically we are stuck with verbal and written communication. I am constantly amazed at the sloppy language used everyday by people. Even going through law school I was amazed at the sloppy language used by my fellow students. I don’t mean the occasional typo, spoonerism, sarcastic or hyperbolic remark or slip of the tongue, Freudian or otherwise. I mean sloppy word choice, such as “no one believes that”, a phrase like that is easy to disprove and the speaker or writer should know better. It is often easy to spot when a speaker (I will use speaker for both verbal and written from here on…too lazy to write speaker or writer every time) just threw up a word rather than carefully thought it out vs. one who may have misspoke, usually in the latter case the speaker will correct themselves. In normal conversations between friends it may not be as important to the participants in the discussion, friends will often overlook such sloppiness because they will understand the meaning the speaker was actually trying to convey.

However, worse than sloppiness is when language is purposefully distorted and used to attack. Recently the Washington Post and the Associated Press attacked James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, the journalists who exposed ACORN as the corrupt organization it really is. The Post falsely attributed a quote to O’Keefe making it appear that O’Keefe had a racial motivation. Scott Johnson of Powerline noticed it right away and demanded a response. Johnson followed up by pointing out that another blogger, John Rosenberg, had noticed a pattern by the Post author and also that Joel Mowbray had looked into the “drive-by mugging” of O’Keefe.

The Post did print a “correction” that’s actually a non-correction and Mr. Johnson notices the odd wording of the “correction”. Johnson links to a great article which blasts the Post for continuing to slime while pretending to correct.

I bring all of this up because the Post’s original article and its subsequent “correction” are an indicator of how the Left uses language to its advantage to slant any discussion their way and slime anyone who disagrees with them. The Left of course has no problem with this at all, which is why they go into fits about Sarah Palin using the phrase “death panels” on Facebook to describe panels that would have the authority to choose who may get life saving treatment but they don’t make a peep over a National Paper falsely putting racist words in the mouths of an opponent.

Lloyd Marcus at American Thinker has had enough. His article is entitled “Stop Allowing the Left to Set the Rules” and it s a great piece about how this sort of thing happens all the time and how especially now with all of the racism charges being thrown around by the left it must be combated. He also notes the cries for “civility” by the very same people who ignored or encouraged such incivility towards George W. Bush and Sarah Palin.

I have pointed out the hypocrisy of Liberals about this subject before. I could make every post every day on this blog about another example of it. Mr. Marcus is correct we need to be aware of the language used by the Left. It can’t be put down to pure sloppy thinking (although that is another problem the Left does have), most of the time it is well thought out to do the maximum amount of damage. By pointing out the Left’s tactics and hypocrisy and making sure our own language is direct we can defeat these nitwits.

That being said, I have no plans to stop being a sarcastic S.O.B.

Obama’s UN Speech: More forceful against Global Warming than dictators

Posted in Culture, Economy, Environment, Media, Politics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 25, 2009 by thedoyle

In addition to Obama’s self-absorbed speech in which he lauded the collective, knelt before dictators and stood up against a democratic Israel, Obama also warmed up the crowd for the main purpose of the waste of energy and resources that is the Global Warming…er Climate Change Summit. I have mentioned before I love how they changed the name to fear from Global Warming to Global Climate Change. The part of Obama’s speech on Climate Change was as filled with lies and fantasy as the rest of his speech on foreign policy.

Obama starts off with “The danger posed by climate change cannot be denied.”
Au contraire, I can deny it. Climate Change is a natural part of the planet. We have gotten warmer before and we have gotten colder before all without the help of SUV’s and humanity and the planet has survived it. The left’s fervor for the religion of Global Warming has them equating people like me with Holocaust deniers, demanding deniers be put into re-education camps, and drafting criminal charges for deniers, hell Obama hired the guy who helped draft those charges. For the zealots of Global Warming any dissent is dismissed, any evidence that Man isn’t the cause must come from oil companies or anti-“fill in the blank” scientists who should be ignored.

Nevermind the fact that AGW prophets seem to be missing their own evidence. From the article:
So the weather data that go into the historical climate records that are required to verify models of global warming aren’t the original records at all. Jones and Wigley, however, weren’t specific about what was done to which station in order to produce their record, which, according to the IPCC, showed a warming of 0.6° +/– 0.2°C in the 20th century.

Now begins the fun. Warwick Hughes, an Australian scientist, wondered where that “+/–” came from, so he politely wrote Phil Jones in early 2005, asking for the original data. Jones’s response to a fellow scientist attempting to replicate his work was, “We have 25 years or so invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it?”

Reread that statement, for it is breathtaking in its anti-scientific thrust. In fact, the entire purpose of replication is to “try and find something wrong.” The ultimate objective of science is to do things so well that, indeed, nothing is wrong.

I really can’t stress reading that article enough, and it isn’t the only place that apparently those who claim “the debate is over” and it “cannot be denied” seem to want to keep info to themselves:
“If they had evidence of their Global Warming claims surely world leaders would show it to the world. Yet the UN still haven’t replied to the letter from ‘The gang of 13’ scientists in July 2008 asking for simple evidence of the UN claims on Global Warming – http://www.tech-know.eu/uploads/Letter_UN_Sec_Gen_Ban_Ki-moon.pdf.

So what is the data, I hear you ask. Obviously the IPCC has put out models before, so let’s look at if the data holds up from what they did put out. Seems that the predictions don’t hold up, but the AGW zealots will tell you the debate is over. If its over its only because the AGW zealots are pulling a Miracle Max impression, “I’m not listening”

Back to the Zealot-in-Chief’s UN speech:
“Land that human beings have lived on for millennia will disappear. Future generations will look back and wonder why we refused to act”
Um, if the planet will eat us alive and there’s drought, famine and loss of land…who are these future generations he’s talking about? I’ll leave that one alone for now.

This to me is the crux of what was wrong with what he said:
“While we must acknowledge the need for differentiated responses, any effort to curb carbon emissions must include the fast-growing carbon emitters who can do more to reduce their air pollution without inhibiting growth. And any effort that fails to help the poorest nations both adapt to the problems that climate change have already wrought and help them travel a path of clean development simply will not work.”
This has been a problem with the prophets of AGW, they believe in conversion by the sword and it is developing nations who are the ones to suffer under the Holy Gorean Church. Third World Countries often have plenty of resources they could use to improve their standard of living but they are blackmailed by Gaia’s soldiers into a worse existence all for mother earth, well actually its for allowing Gaia’s soldiers to pat themselves on the back while they do whatever they damn well please. Hypocrites.

Obama’s fantasy aside and even ignoring his Energy Secretary’s foolish and patronizing admonishment of US Citizens the fact is these nitwits truly believe the planet will kill us in a few years. The truly scary thing is they are creating laws that will not only affect business but effect every single person and all under the rubric of “for your own good.”

But will it really be good? Spain recently put out a report that its “Green Jobs” hurt its economy, that report was blasted by the Left, who once again did their Miracle Max impression. Obama tried to calm fears that environmental laws won’t affect jobs. Former President Bill Clinton appears to have broken orthodoxy and admitted the report from Spain is true. Of course like the Global Warming Data, they also won’t release the audio.

Besides changing words to make their hysteria more hysterical, Gaia’s true believers also make sure news stories fit their storyline no matter what the facts and they ignore any chance of an explanation other than evil Man and those evil SUVs made by evil business. Of course if that giant ball of light and heat 93 million miles away is in fact beginning to cool and if it does in fact create a period of cooling, won’t those who worship at the alter of the Goracle be embarrassed?
No of course they won’t be, it will be like any other mystic in the pages of the Weekly World News or Inquirer who predict the end of the world and then when the date passes they claim we were saved at the last minute. They will go back to the claims of the 70’s that we are heading towards another ice age and have to pass sweeping laws to control everyone’s lives in order to save the planet and that we have only months to do or else.

Now that I am done mocking and pointing out the dangers of these hypocrites let me say something that needs to be said, I would like a cleaner planet. Clean water and clean air do matter to me, but funny enough I would like to see useful, directed and effective rules put in place. Rules that don’t destroy our economy, rules that don’t keep Third World Countries poor, rules that don’t require a huge expansion of government into citizens private lives all for the idea that we can “stop climate change.” The hubris required in such a belief that we can stop something that has happened for hundreds of millions of years is staggering. But to Gaia’s religious zealots such belief is commonplace and they are ready to martyr everyone else except themselves.

Obama’s UN Speech filled with Lies and Fantasy.

I watched the entire speech yesterday because I am a masochist. NRO posted a transcript. Obama began lying in the second sentence and it didn’t stop till the end.

“I come before you humbled by the responsibility that the American people have placed upon me, mindful of the enormous challenges of our moment in history, and determined to act boldly and collectively on behalf of justice and prosperity at home and abroad.”
HA. “Humbled” my ass, he’s one of the most arrogant, self-absorbed, self-obsessed people I have seen in the political scene in this country EVER. “Determined to act boldly” except in the case of Iran’s election where he sat back and said let’s wait and see, it’s none of our business they need to work this out on their own so that he wouldn’t wreck a chance to grovel to Achmadinnerjacket at a later date.
The only true statement in that sentence was his claim he would act “collectively.” All socialists believe in the collective, the superiority of the group over the individual. Obama’s collectivism was on full display there for sure.

“I have been in office for just nine months — though some days it seems a lot longer.”

It certainly does seem longer to me, it seems like this nitwit has been trying to screw up our country for years with his socialist view.

“I am well aware of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world.”
WTF?? Who cares about the expectations of the rest of the world, he doesn’t work for them he works for us. This is a prime example of what is wrong with Obama and the left in general, their constant obsession with how the world sees us. They are like high school girls worried about whether the cool kids will like them. The rest of the world will never like us, they never have. The left loved to talk about how it was all George W. Bush’s fault that the world didn’t like us, which was pure bullshit. The world never liked us, no one likes the big dog, they all want to be the big dog or tear him down.

“These expectations are not about me.”
For someone who says its “not about me” the speech is filled with “me” and “I” hell, he managed to refer to himself 4 times in those last three sentences. Like I said self-absorbed and self-obsessed.

“Rather, they are rooted, I believe, in a discontent with a status quo that has allowed us to be increasingly defined by our differences, and outpaced by our problems. But they are also rooted in hope — the hope that real change is possible, and the hope that America will be a leader in bringing about such change.”
Wow he actually managed to work in his campaign slogan…twice, into a speech before the world. Bravo, he has brought self-absorption and cheap politicking to a whole new level.

“I took office at a time when many around the world had come to view America with skepticism and distrust.”
Again, see above the world had done that since George Washington not just since George W. Bush.

“Part of this was due to misperceptions and misinformation about my country.”
And who helped spread that misinformation and who helped create those “misperceptions?” Oh that’s right it was the left, people like John Kerry going overseas and badmouthing our country and badmouthing its soldiers. People like Dick Durbin who called the guards at Gitmo, Nazis. People like Obama himself who went on a world wide apology tour after taking office solidifying every bad idea ever held. I could give tons of examples of just the left’s politicians let alone leftist nitwits like Michael Moore, George Clooney, the Dixie Chicks etc.

“Part of this was due to opposition to specific policies, and a belief that on certain critical issues, America has acted unilaterally, without regard for the interests of others.”
Of course Obama thinks this horse-crap is true In his mind, and the mind of leftists, only if the interests of others is more important than our own are our actions proper. If only our own interests are at stake we must then get approval from others to act. A suicidal thought pattern that John Kerry had suggested during his failed bid for President. An intelligent person knows that if our interests are at stake and the world is content to do nothing then they can sit there while we take action. Let them grumble all they want, they weren’t willing to do anything to help us they obviously don’t have the balls to do anything to oppose us.

“And this has fed an almost reflexive anti-Americanism, which too often has served as an excuse for collective inaction.”
More fantasy belief that the anti-Americanism is new and more collectivism on display.

“Now, like all of you, my responsibility is to act in the interest of my nation and my people, and I will never apologize for defending those interests.”
He won’t apologize for defending those interests but he went around apologizing for just about everything else, what a hypocrite, what a tool. Also, he refers to himself 4 times in one sentence, a new record. But it’s not about him.

“But it is my deeply held belief that in the year 2009 — more than at any point in human history — the interests of nations and peoples are shared.”
No, the interests of nations and people are NOT shared. I do not share the interests of Islamic jihadists who wish to impose Sharia Law and Islam on everyone on the globe, they do not share my interests in living my life as I see fit. I do not share the interests of socialists who wish to denigrate the individual, crushing him in the name of the collective. Socialists do not share my interest in the freedom to make a living and keep the fruits of my labors. I can’t quite tell if he was lying or fantasizing, it may be a combination of both. “A Bridge Too Far.” Caine and Hackman in the same movie. This is my thesis man! This is my closing argument! I CAN STOP WATCHING TV!

The rest of the speech is just as bad as the beginning was and I don’t have time to go thru it line by line mocking it all, so here is a round up of others who ripped it to shreds.

Paul Mirengoff correctly calls it sophomoric. I will admit my humor is too, but then I am not the President.

Mr. Mirengoff also notes the groveling Obama did

Scott Johnson of Powerline also comments on Obama’s ignorance and arrogance.

Anne Bayefsky gave National Review online her take on President Apology.

John Bolton, disliked by the UN and the left because he actually tried to work, takes apart our “post-American President”

Rich Lowry of NRO points out the naive view of Obama.

Brett D. Schaefer of NRO also points out the naive view.

Michael Ledeen of NRO argues against the naive view.

NRO posted the transcript of Charles Krauthammer’s take on the speech. “Between embarrassing and dangerous”

I will be posting tomorrow on the “Global Warming” portion of his speech tomorrow.
